Fairtex Group annulus testing kit is regularly used in many areas of the world, in all subsea environments and from various installation units. Our testing not only accurately measures the flexible pipe annulus volume, but it feeds into a unique integrity management reporting plan to give the most accurate predictions for service life. The Fairtex annulus testing kit has been developed specifically to reduce errors which can be created in reporting of annulus test data. We don't just believe in the most accurate test, but we also have a real understanding of reporting outputs to prevent unnecessary intervention or scanning of risers which are acceptable for service life.
Fairtex Group supply and install riser vent monitoring system and it’s a stand-alone system for monitoring of the environment in the annulus of flexible riser pipes. The system is connected to the vent ports of the riser end-fitting at riser hang-off. The vent gas pressure, temperature and flow are measured continuously and analyzed automatically to estimate the free annulus volume. Monitor Negative and Positive Flow of Exposed Risers Some risers which are vented to the local environment without any form of pressure relief valve fitted to the end fitting can breathe the local atmosphere which can cause localized corrosion in fatigue critical areas. Our vent monitoring kit will be fitted by our technician personnel and left in situ for monitoring purposes. The kit allows us to monitor the annulus vent flow in a positive and negative direction to understand the condition of the riser annulus. This is a very specific piece of kit developed for specific client requirements but demonstrates the engineering and innovative thinking of the Fairtex Group.
Fairtex Group utilize a 2.4mm diameter 2-way articulated fiberscope which easily passes through the end fitting venting port. This technology allows us to navigate even 90-degree bends in the cross-drill ports which can lead to the flexible pipe annulus local to the end fitting. The total length which can be inspected using this methodology is 4m. Inspection Objectives The fiberscope allows us to achieve two main objectives:
Investigation into vent ports which are blocked for annulus testing can be inspected for the root cause of failure. If this is due to compression within the PVA vent tubing, then a flexi-drill can be passed down to open up the venting arrangement.
The outer tensile wires local to the end fitting can be inspected for corrosion, this is a highly critical area of the riser where failures have been known to happen. Regular inspection of these areas can add depth to an integrity management plan.
Utilizing a small 2.4mm diameter fiberscope, we can inspect the annulus environment close to the end fitting for signs of significant corrosion. The benefits of this are as follows:
Understand corrosion of the wires local to end fitting
Inspect the venting arrangement for blockages
Visually inspect on a regular basis to assess accelerated corrosion
Understand mode of corrosion
Check for broken wires ~4m from End Fitting
